Day 1 JUNEAU
Individual arrival in Alaska's capital.
Juneau the first town founded in Alaska after the United States purchased
the territory from Russia in 1867 was named after Joe Juneau, allegedly
the first man to have found gold in Alaska. Situated below Mount Juneau
and Mount Roberts, flanked by the Gastineau Channel, this town is certainly
one of the prettiest capitals in the US and a nice home away from home
for our first night at the "Last Frontier".
We gather for a " Welcome Reception" at 7PM.
Day 2 HISTORIC JUNEAU AND MENDENHALL GLACIER
Many of Juneau's original buildings built in the late 1800's make
a perfect starting point for our "Southeast Treasure" historical
downtown tour. Admire impressive Mendenhall glacier as we visit
the river of ice before we leave town on the MV/Fjord land through
the Lynn Canal to Skagway, birthplace of the Klondike Gold Rush.
We overnight at a charming Bed and Breakfast.
Day 3 GOLD RUSH
IN SKAGWAY
Relive the stampede's hey days as we explore Skagway, the gateway
to the Chilkoot and the White Pass Trails of the Gold Rush days.
Ride the scenic Railway on our summit excursion climbing 2865 feet,
truly an unforgettable journey. We stroll the seven blocks on Broadway,
which comprises downtown Skagway, and dive into Skagway's history
and enjoy "Soapy Smith",
a musical comedy in the evening and overnight once more at our cozy B&B.

4 HAINES, VALLEY OF THE EAGLES
We are off to an easy morning hike to Dewey Lake which offers
great views of Skagway, before we leave this charming town and
cross the bay by water taxi to Haines, a community on the shores
of a beautiful fjord. Spend the afternoon on your own and explore
Haines cultural wealth that is best displayed at the Sheldon
Cultural Center, and feel the true spirit of the Tlingit Indians
through the dances preformed by the Chilkat Dancers. You have
plenty of time to visit the Klukwan Indian Village or Fort Seward.
Great hospitality awaits us at our Bed & Breakfast.
Day 5 THE ULTIMATE WILDERNESS EXPERIENCE
Early mornings are best for wildlife viewing and a float trip through
the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve, known for the greatest gathering of
bald eagles in the world, offers breathtaking scenery and abundant wildlife.
Later in the afternoon we board a charter plane to Gustavus, entry point
to Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve. This flight offers spectacular
views of the Wrangell St. Elias and Mount Fairweather Range,
perhaps the world's most spectacular glaciated mountains. Explore this homestead
community on foot or mountain bike. Taste local gourmet foods
and charming inns. Enjoy true Alaskan hospitality at our Bed and Breakfast
in the evening.
Day 6 GLACIER BAY NATIONAL PARK
Unique beauty and therefore called the "Crown Jewel " of Alaska
and National Treasure. See Margerie Glacier which flows from
Mt. Fairweather's peak three miles to sea level and the Grand Pacific Glacier
which covered the whole bay area just 200 years ago. Let us show
you the abundant wildlife; marine mammals observed are humpbacks. orcas and
steller sea lions among many other species. Brown and black bears roam the
coast and more than 200 species of birds call this bay home. A short evening
flight brings us back to Juneau where we spend the night before...
Day 7
INSIDE PASSAGE
.. we rise early to board the ferry for a days passage through
this remarkable waterways to Sitka, known for its rich cultural,
historical and natural treasures. The town's history is well documented
in Sitka's museum, Sitka National Historical Park, Castle Hill
and the St. Michael's Russian Orthodox Cathedral and small town
charm is best reflected at our comfortable downtown lodge, where
we overnight.
Day 8 SITKA "THE TREASURE ISLAND"
What better way to explore this charming town with its totem parks,
Native Arts Center and restored Russian buildings than on a guided
morning walking tour as we follow the footsteps of an earlier
era. In the afternoon we are welcomed aboard the ferry again,
our home for an overnight journey as we travel the famous Inside
Passage to Ketchikan. Fully appointed staterooms including white
linens and facilities offer comfort and room for privacy. The
food is good, the lounge is cozy and the view spectacular. Ranger
presentations are offered throughout the day.
Day 9 KETCHIKAN
We call port early afternoon at Ketchikan, home of three Northwest
Coast Indian tribes; the Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian. Following the
footsteps of their ancestors, carvers can be seen at work as we visit
Saxman Village with its magnificent display of totem poles. Musical
performances, a stroll along Creek Street, Ketchikan's famous waterfront
and a wonderful stay at our lodge overlooking the bay round off this
unique day.
Day 10 MISTY FJORD NATIONAL MONUMENT
Find the last, but not least treasure on our magnificent journey
through this world of rich culture and rivers of ice on our day-long
cruise to Misty Fjords National Monument, truly a pristine masterpiece.
View it's fjords created by massive glaciers as we cruise beneath
towering, 3000-foot high cliffs and pass old petroglyphs (native
rock art) etched along the walls of the monument. We enjoy time
together, indulge in a delicious good-bye dinner and review our
Southeast Treasure experience before its time to..
Day 11 TREASURE YOUR MEMORIES
as you leave Ketchikan early morning to Seattle to connect to your
flights back home.

Our trip starts in Juneau on June 10 at 6 PM and ends in Ketchikan
June 20. 2008 after breakfast at 7 AM. Please schedule your arrival
in Juneau and your departure from Ketchikan accordingly. Please inform
us if you like help with your flight arrangements.
