WINTER WONDERLAND Tour with Arctic Ladies
It's simply more fun!
Trip date: February 29 - March 8/2008
Winter in the Arctic is breathtaking with twilight hours accented by red glowing sunrises and sunsets lasting for hours. We are on the spot when the world-famous Iditarod race starts in Anchorage. The first two days of our arctic adventure are spend in Alaska’s favorite winter playground, Alyeska Resort. After a day trip to Seward and a cruise in Resurrection Bay we are heading north to Talkeetna. This little bush town is a true Alaskan experience, offering views of Mount Mc Kinley on our flight-seeing trip. Escape and relax in the natural hot spring pools at Chena Resort and feel the tranquility of the surrounding wilderness. Enjoy cross-country skiing, a dog sled ride and the beauty of the Aurora Borealis. We'll pass through the Frontier town of Fairbanks, mush our own dog team and overnight at Denali; another perfect place for Northern Lights viewing.
Day 1 ANCHORAGE
Tour participants arrive in Anchorage on Friday, February 29/2008, and gather at a lovely local B&B. Overnight sleeping arrangements are included in your trip package.
Day 2 THE RACE IS ON
We assemble at 9AM for breakfast and a brief orientation before we drive downtown to join in the excitement as the Iditarod, the “Last Great Race” from Anchorage to Nome, gets underway. After the last dogsled team departs, we begin on our own journey. Heading south, our destination today is Girdwood, a small resort town on the foothills of Mount Alyeska, the perfect ski resort surrounded by seven glaciers and offering spectacular views of the Chugach Mountain Range. A cozy Chalet atmosphere awaits us in this pristine little town. And what would be a ski resort without a Swiss fondue dinner cooked by your Arctic Ladies guide.

We leave Girdwood in the morning on a spectacular day trip, along Turnagain Arm and over Turnagain Pass, to Seward. Then get on board for a wildlife-watching cruise. See sea otters, sea lions, and harbor seals toying in water, all surrounded by the Kenai Mountains, rising 4000 feet from sea level.
