Individual flight and arrival in Lihue/Kauai. We meet at the Lihue airport at 5:30 PM. Transfer to our beautiful retreat in Poipu.

Kauai, is the oldest of the eight major Hawaiian Islands. The beaches on Kauai are among the best beaches in the world. And best of all our private retreat with pool is only steps away from Poipu and Brennecke's beach, truly an ideal location for those who love tranquility and relaxation, ocean vistas, sunshine and miles of glistering sand.

DAY 2 THE NORTH SHORE
Enjoy a morning visit to Limahuli Garden, a "National Tropical Botanical Garden" which offers visions of natural beauty and intriguing Hawaiian culture. We walk the land where taro still thrives in ancient lo’i (irrigated terraces) and learn about native plants brought to Hawaii by the Polynesian voyagers. Selected by the American Horticultural Society as the best natural botanical garden in the US, Limahuli Garden is comprised of over 1000 acres in a verdant tropical valley covering three distinct ecological zones. Ke'e Beach, this is as far as we can drive, and it is a swimming and sunbathing favorite and a nice place for our picnic lunch. An afternoon visit in Kilauea Point Wildlife Refuge allows us a glimpse of the rocky cliffs which serve as nesting and roosting habitat for seven native Hawaiian seabirds, including the "Nene" (Hawaiian goose).

DAY 3 NA PALI
We'll explore the magnificent coastline of Na Pali with its majestic cliffs, lush valleys and cascading waterfalls on a 60 ft Catamaran to see the playful spinner dolphins, humpback whales, sea turtles, sea birds and flying fish. We'll have breakfast and a deli lunch buffet on board. The swim platform offers easy access to the water if you like to try swimming or snorkeling. Enjoy the Mai Tai's served on board after the activities. The afternoon is yours to enjoy the pool or stroll along the beaches. Monk Seals are often seen snoozing on the beach.

DAY 4 THE WAYMEA CANYON
We'll explore the *Waimea Canyon, a north-south trending, 13 mile long, 1500-2500 ft deep chasm with sparsely vegetated lava rock layers* on an all day guided hike with our geologist "Chuck Blay. Chuck is a geoscientist with a Ph.D. in geology and the Author of " Kauai's Geologic History," he is an active lecturer and supporter of Hawaii's Eco tourism.

DAY 5 THE WONDERS OF HULEIA RIVER
This activity is a delightful downwind kayak paddle, about two miles in length. We'll go through the Huleia National Wildlife Refuge, a place for the preservation of endangered Hawaiian water birds. Our backdrop is the magnificent Haupu Mountain Range, a dramatic and majestic 2000' shield volcano that looms over the river. We'll leave our kayaks behind, and set out on a 1.5 mile round trip guided nature walk through a pristine tropical rain forest containing many different communities of plants, birds, and aquatic life, both native and introduced. We'll stop along the way at swimming holes with rope swings and finally reach our destination; Hidden Valley Falls, a captivating series of pool-drop waterfalls cascading over black lava rock. We'll have some snacks and cold drinks, enjoy the scenery for a while, and then head back down to the river for a fun trip back in our double-hulled powered canoe. The rest of the afternoon is yours to relax by the beach or at the pool.

DAY 6 NOUNOU MOUNTAIN
We are back on terra firma for most of today, beginning with a morning hike to reach the "nose" of the Sleeping Giant (Nounou Mountain) near Kapaa, a quaint 19th century plantation town on Kauai's Royal Coconut Coast. Time permitting we'll explore the little town with its shops and ono (delicious) restaurants, and watch the glorious sunset from the towns beach.

DAY 7 HONOLULU
We enjoy breakfast and prepare for an early check out and transfer to Lihue airport. Our 9 AM flight brings us back to Honolulu. Our personalized tour of Oahu will include some birding sites, famous Waikiki, a charming walk through Chinatown with an afternoon Tea at 1024. We return to the Airport in the evening for our flights home.

DAY (7) 8 and 9 BIG ISLAND OF HAWAII
Fly in the evening of day 7 to Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. Enjoy and explore on Day 8 the Volcano National Park with our Hawaiian Geologist, spend day 9 easy hiking and swimming, before we return in the evening to Oahu where we board our flights home.
